Hallels: "Revive Us Again," your newest release, is filled with hymns and Southern Gospel favorites. Why did you choose to do a hymns/covers album this time?
We're very excited about this new project and would love to share with you the story behind it's making. First of all, with over 180 concert dates on the calendar each year, we needed certain foundational songs in our repertoire. After 1.5 years of full-time traveling, we went into the studio last October and literally said to the session leader, "Here are the songs we need!" As as result, "Revive Us Again" was born and the response has been very positive so far. We're very ministry minded and our hope is to establish a spirit of worship at the events. We see a lot of tears when these songs are shared and we feel The LORD is using the material in a mighty way!
Hallels: What are some of the Southern Gospel classics you have chosen for this record?
We've always been big fans of the great Southern Gospel writers like Bill & Gloria Gaither, Woody Wright and Rusty Goodman. Accordingly, their songs represent half of the material on this project. We've witnessed congregations standing to their feet on classics like "Because He Lives" and "I Believe In A Hill Called Mount Calvary." When we share "Look For Me" by Rusty Goodman, there are a lot of tears on many faces throughout the congregation. We believe the great writers wrote with tremendous conviction and they knew what type of songs resonated with gospel music audiences. These songs are very anointed and timeless!
Hallels: What were some of the highlights in the making of this album?
We were greatly honored to have Rusty Goodman's daughter, Tanya Goodman Sykes sing on "Who Am I" with our family. We literally had chills in the studio when she started singing on the second verse and we were so delighted with the final product. It's one thing to have a timeless classic on your project, but it makes it incredibly special to have the songwriter's daughter graciously share her talents on the song as well! We're excited for everyone to hear it! We also worked with several of Nashville's finest musicians, arrangers, engineers, producers and writers on this project! The credit list represents many of the most talented people we know and we were truly blessed and honored to have them contribute to this CD!
Hallels: What lessons about God and faith do you wish your listeners would grasp after listening to this album?
Our goal with not only this project, but our concerts as well, is to point others to Christ. Our banner and other materials feature this verse from Isaiah 26:4: "Trust In The LORD Forever, for The LORD, The LORD Himself, Is The Rock Eternal!" In order to be effective ministers for Christ, we must first realize we can do nothing apart from Him. He is The Vine - we are the branches. This is our prayer and we hope and pray this fact is evident through our lives and events.
Hallels: What's next for the Kramers? Do you already have your next project already in mind?
Yes, we already have future projects in mind with hopes to further develop the family group and sound. We've written a lot of songs in the past and hope to begin writing again in earnest for the upcoming projects!
Hallels: When our readers come out to one of your shows, what can they expect? And where can they find out about your touring dates and venues?
One of the biggest blessings for us to hear after a concert is that people sensed the Holy Spirit. Our hope is that people will be inspired to live their lives fully devoted to Christ and if we can help in leading them to the Throne of God in worship, we've accomplished a very major goal!
