But the producer (EijiAonuma) of the game actually made a statement about said rumor and according to him, that's not exactly what people should expect.

And in his words he said during an interview for Edge Magazine, "Since we're talking about open worlds, let's state upfront that we don't plan to have an open world in the same way other companies have been doing in recent years." And apparently, Nintendo is really the only one that knows about the exact details of the game.
