Chicago PD Season 2: Mystery Behind Jin's Death Shown In First Season's Finale To Be Resolved In Second Season's Premiere; Plus Team's Next Assignment Is Shadow In "Call It Macaroni"
The Chicago PD Season 2 premiere is on September 24 at its 10 PM Wednesday time slot on NBC, which aside from giving a sneak peak at the upcoming initial telecast of the show is now also airing online all the Chicago PD Season 1 episodes for those who may want to binge watch. The show, as described by the Chicago PD wikia fan site, "focuses on the daily routines and lives of police officers in the District 21 Intelligence Unit, commanded by Hank Voight (played by Jason Beghe)."
Aside from Beghe, the other regular Chicago PD cast who may be expected to seen again next season's first episode are Ian Bohen, Sophia Bush, Elias Koteas, Jon Seda, Jesse Lee Soffer, Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins, Marina Squerciati, and Archie Kao. Although neither a complete Chicago PD episode guide nor a Chicago PD episode list is available at this point, it is already known that the premiere will be entitled "Call It Macaroni." According to the Chicago PD IMDB, it will follow Sergeant Voight as he tries to find out who is behind the murder of Jin (played by Kao) in last season's Chicago PD finale and he will be coming to an "unbelievable discovery." He will learn that Sergeant Edwin Stillwell is playing a double game. In the meantime, all members of the intelligence departments will also be receiving death threats from "Shadow," an unknown group which takes responsibility for causing the fire and other other incidents that are meant to bring chaos in Chicago.
Regarding spoilers to the premiere episode of Chicago PD Season 2, Stars Entertainment adds: "A routine undercover job becomes anything but when Voight's SUV is T-boned while trailing an armored car carrying Ruzek (Patrick Flueger). At District, Burgess (Marina Squerciati) meets her new partner, Sean Roman (Brian Geraghty) and tension is high from the start. Soon she realizes there's more to his story. After a long day, Lindsay pays a visit to someone she hasn't seen in a very long time - her mom, Bunny (guest star Markie Post)."
Creator and showrunner Matt Olmstead in an interview with TV Guide said: "It [Jin's death] shakes everybody up...definitely for the next three or four episodes until people can re-galvanize as a family, but people have some hard feelings about how it all goes down." However, he promised that the mystery as to who killed Jin will also be revealed during the first episode of Chicago PD Season 2, saying, "I think we're going to hopefully wrap it up pretty quick, but we'll figure out what part of the unit is going to stand behind [Voight] and what part is not going to stand behind him."
