We have the latest news for you on Saw's 10th Anniversary and return to theaters. Lionsgate will bring the psychological thriller back to theatres in order to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of "Saw".
The gruesome series, which is centered on serial killer Jigsaw and his almost impossible traps which gives the victims no other choice but to mutilate themselves so that they can make it out of there alive. It has become a part of the Halloween tradition from 2004 to 2010, where one film is released each and every year. The film is produced by Gregg Hoffman, Oren Koules and Mark Burg. The first installment of the film which was released on 29th October 2004, starred Cary Elwes and Danny Glover. The film earned $100 million in the initial box office run. The film has 6 sequels and it earned a gross of $874 million worldwide and it was honored as the "Most successful horror franchise in the Guinness Book of World records.
More to that, the original 'Saw' film was the first collaboration screen play writer Leigh Whannel and director James Wan which led them to another horror franchise for "Insidious." Wan, however, branched out and went to direct other high-profile films like "Fast and Furious 7" and "The Conjuring."Jason Constantine, the Lionsgate President of Acquisitions and Co-Production said, "The launch of 'Saw' was a signature event in Lionsgate's history, establishing our first franchise and paving the way for our growth into a global studio. We are excited for our fans to revisit the twisted magic that first blew their minds on Halloween 2014."
"As part of Saw's 10th anniversary, we're thrilled to give new fans and audiences the opportunity to experience this film on the big screen for the very first time," added the producers Koules and Burg. 'Saw' is expected to return to theatres nationwide for only one week, starting on Friday, the 31st of October with select early screenings set to begin on Thursday night, 30th October.
