Utopia TV Series Latest News and updates: Series Won't be Coming Back for a Third Season but Will be Undergoing a Remake

Fans of the Utopia TV series will be in for a disappointing surprise as Channel 4 has decided to put a lid on the cult British TV series. Yes, the Utopia TV series won't be coming back for a third season. It was reported that Channel 4 was disappointed with the ratings the show had made and decided to give it the boot.

The science fiction thriller was created by Dennis Kelly and debuted only last January 2013. It was green lighted for a second season in the summer.

According to Den of Geek, the main reason why the Utopia TV series was cancelled is because there is a new wave of television dramas coming in to Channel 4 later this year. A Channel 4 spokesperson
shared that the Utopia TV series is a "truly channel-defining: strikingly original, powered by Dennis Kelly's extraordinary voice and brought to life in all its technicolor glory through Marc Munden's undeniable creative flair and vision, the team at Kudos delivered a series which has achieved fervent cult status over two brilliantly warped and nail-biting series. It also has the honour of ensuring audiences will never look at a spoon in the same way again.  It's always painful to say goodbye to shows we love, but it's a necessary
part of being able to commission new drama, a raft of which are launching on the channel throughout 2015."

But if fans think that this will be the last time they will be seeing their favorite Utopia TV series cast, don't mourn just yet as there have been plans for a remake - this time under the wing of HBO and director David Fincher.

The US version of the Utopia TV series is slated to arrive to your TV screens in 2015.
