'Rush Hour' TV Series Will Air on CBS: How True Could it Be? More to Find Out
The "Rush Hour" franchise may have an upcoming television show series as it landed a pilot production commitment to the popular television network, CBS.
Analogous to the trilogy's premise, as said in Inside TV the anticipated "Rush Hour" television show series will also have a law-abiding police officer from Hong Kong who will be tasked to cases in the ever famous Los Angeles, where he would be compelled to collaborate with an audacious African American LAPD officer who prefers to work alone.
Inquisitr mentioned that the first "Rush Hour" movie starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker first released during the year of 1998 made a domestic gross of $100 million and grossing almost $250 million all over the world. It went on to spawn two more movies that made the trilogy. Collectively, the Rush Hour trilogy topped $850 million at the box office.
The show will be written by Bill Lawrence, co-creator of "Cougar Town" and "Scrubs", along with Blake McCormick, who also writes and is an executive producer for "Cougar Town". The duo will also be executive producers of the would-be "Rush Hour" television show series. Brett Ratner, who directed the three "Rush Hour" movies, alongside with Arthur Sarkissian, who also produced the Rush Hour trilogy, will also be executive producers of the upcoming "Rush Hour" television series.
No further news was revealed concerning the actors who will play the lead roles of the said series. The pilot episode will have to match or even exceed the original duo's chemistry of the "Rush Hour" films, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker.
According to Screen Rant There is still no assurance or guarantee that the "Rush Hour" television pilot will actually make it past the screening and become a full pledged television show. The Beverly Hills Cop television show was passed by CBS and now has a series order. However, other movies that were turned into television shows are not as successful, "The Truman Show" and "American Psycho" comes to mind.
When all goes well for the upcoming series, the "Rush Hour" television show series is expected to premiere in the Fall season of 2015. Jackie Chan also revealed that a fourth "Rush Hour" movie may be in place, but is still a long shot.
