Confirmed: 'How I Met Your Mother' Star Neil Patrick Harris To Host the 2015 Oscars!
The popular "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris is all set to be the legendary host of the 2015 Academy Awards, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday. The event is set on Feb. 22 2015.
Needless to say, Neil Patrick was thrilled with the honor and said in a statement that it is a dream come true to host the prestigious awards show that he grew up watching. He is so honored by the announcement that he said that he can now check one item off from his bucket list.
In a statement, the "Gone Girl" actor said that, "It is truly an honor and a thrill to be asked to host this year's Academy Awards," Harris said in a statement. "To be asked to follow in the footsteps of Johnny Carson, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneres, and everyone else who had the great fortune of hosting is a bucket list dream come true."
Harris is no stranger to hosting awards show. It may be well his fall back as he tried his hands at hosting events in the past with great success. He was well received and earned praises from peers in the industry when he hosted the Emmys and the Tony Awards with his trademark charm and witty style. So it was no surprise that the Academy bosses accorded him this honor; It was only just a matter of time.
However, it ought to be mentioned that this is not his first time at the Oscars as he performed at the ceremony in the past, to loud applause.
He is well known for "Doogie Howser, M.D.", in which he starred from 1989 to 1993. The role was a runaway success and since then, there was no looking back for this talented actor. He has also starred in "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" and also won a Tony Award for "Best Actor in a Musical." He has also won the Emmy Awards twice.
The audience is already expecting a flashy and dramatic performance by the star at the Oscar Awards, as he is a veteran hosting events. He has hosted the Tony Awards, four times to spectacular success.
