DriveClub for PS4 review: A solid racing game for driving enthusiasts, but lacks the personal, me-against-the machine feel
DriveClub for PS4 review: A solid racing game for driving enthusiasts, but lacks the personal, me-against-the machine feel
We road tested DriveClub for PS4 to see how it fared against other racing games.
Developed by Evolution Studios, DriveClub players are encouraged to switch cars often unlike similar games, which focus on car customization.
DriveClub allows players to race many different cars against different opponents from various locations, giving the game a more social feel. With DriveClub, you can create your online clique and race on various tracks as a group.
DriveClub players earn in-game social currency called "Fame" - the higher the Fame rating, the more races and cars are made available. Players move up the ranks by getting different colored bands, which are displayed as you race.
Car handling has been modified to suit newbies and casual players; gaming menus and structure are easy to learn. DriveClub provides the right cars for upcoming races - all players have to do is just gear up and go.
Visually, DriveClub is mainly greens and greys. The music embedded is not intrusive. This might come off as dry for some gamers.
All in all, DriveClub for PS4 is a solid racing game. But as most car enthusiasts are big about racing alone, the social aspect might be a big come-on.
