'Gone Girl' vs. 'The Judge' Competition: 'Gone Girl' Tops US Box Office, 'The Judge' Left Behind
Over the weekend, "Gone Girl" maintained the top position at US box office having $26.8M on its second week, according to the report of The Guardian.
"Gone Girl" stars Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne, a man who is a major suspect of murder when his wife played by Rosamund Pike went missing. It is just like any other films that when the wife went missing the very first person to be suspected is his husband especially if they have had an argument before the wife was gone or found dead that even their closest friends and family would tend to feel like he is the primary suspect.
But what makes this film top among other films?
Actually, "Gone Girl" has a book version, crime novel to be exact-a very absorbing and ingenious thriller. On its halfway, a big twist of the story awaits! But of course, the movie is as twice as great obviously hitting the top at US box office.
Next to "Gone Girl" is "Dracula Untold" starring Luke Evans named as Vlad having $23.5M while "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day" on the third place having $19.1M on its opening starring Steve Carell, Ed Oxenbould, and Jennifer Garner. This movie is an adaptation of famous children's book written by Judith Viorst, year 1972.
"Annabelle" dropped to the fourth place despite on its very low budget with 16.4M. "The Judge" starring Robert Downey Jr. also known as Iron man is now on fifth place with $13.3M on its opening. The movie is on its fifth place despite the fact the Robert Downey Jr. is the highest paid actor.
Robert Downey Jr. in the movie is playing the role of a lawyer. He goes home because of his mother's funeral. While he was there, he discovered that his father played by Robert Duvall happened to be the judge of their town is the major suspect of his mother.
The sixth placer is "The Equalizer," followed by "Addicted," "The Maze Runner," "Boxtrolls" and "Meet the Mormons."
