Samsung Galaxy Note 4 vs iPhone 6 plus: Note 4 is Still Bigger but 6 Plus is Thinner; Samsung Has Better Processor and Camera; Both Has Their Own 'Gates'
The battle is getting so intense after Apple's iPhone 6 has reached its $21 million- sales mark. The record breaking sales for Apple's newest flagship device neutralized the smartphone market share that is once conquered by the Korea-based tech-company Samsung.
So who has the better large-screen smartphone? Is it the Apple's biggest phone to date, the iPhone 6 Plus? Or is it Samsung's latest flagship handset, the Samsung Galaxy Note 4? If you are one of those who are torn between two great choices, this review is for you.
According to Christian Today Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is still bigger than iPhone 6 Plus. Note 4 has 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution while 6 plus has 5.5-inch IPS LCD screen with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution.
Though Galaxy Note 4 is still bigger than Apple's biggest iPhone to date, 6 plus is thinner than Samsung's latest flagship smartphone. Galaxy Note 4 has 8.5 mm thickness while iPhone 6 plus is only 7.1 mm thin.
In terms of software and performance, both smartphones has the latest operating system of their respective company. Galaxy Note 4 has the latest Android Kitkat 4.4.4 OS while iPhone is equipped with iOS 8. Note 4 on the other hand has bigger RAM with 3072 MB while iPhone 6 plus has 1024 MB RAM only.
While iPhone 6 plus has varied built-in storage capacity of 16 GB, 32Gb and 128 GB, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has 32 GB built-in memory that is expandable up to 128 GB with microSD, microSHDC and micro SDXC. Note 4 on the other hand is equipped with an octa-core 1900 MHz processor while iPhone has a dual-core 1400 MHz processor.
Samsung Galaxy note 4 also has the better front and rear camera, 3.7MP front selfie-cam and 16MP LED flash primary back camera. On the other hand, Apple's iPhone 6 plus is equipped with 8MP rear camera and 1.2 MP front cam.
While Samsung Galaxy Note 4 seems superior in terms of its technical features, CNet reported that Samsung's ads are harming its reputation in U.S. Citing the Korea-based tech-giant's video ad, the report criticized that Samsung has not made its point by claiming the Note 4 is better than iPhone 6 plus in terms of screen and pen.
On the video ad, Samsung claims that their large screen is a "window to your productive world" and its stylus is not a pen but a "light saber." "Samsung's brand image in the US suffers from a split between some ads that have at their heart an excellent wit and some that have all the blandness of creation by worldwide committee."
Samsung is not alone in terms of critics as Apple also has its fair share of "gates." Design n Trend reported that both company has failed in terms of choosing the correct resolution for iPhone 6 plus and Galaxy Note 4. The two tech-giants boost their graphic performance too far thus "resulting problems along the way."
iPhone's latest flagship phone was also haunted by "bendgate" that rooted from the claims of Apple's users that 6 plus tend to bend when faced under a strong force. Though it was later proven that "70 - 110 pounds of force is required to deform and break the device."
Samsung Galaxy note 4, on the other has its own dilemma called "Gapgate." This defect is "characterized by a wide gap in the side metallic rim of the Galaxy Note 4." Users feared that this gap can be an entry point to water droplets or unwanted particles that can harm the phone's interior. On the other hand, Samsung claimed that the said gap "does not impact the functionality or quality of the Galaxy Note 4."
