'The Judge' Release Date, Latest News: Robert Downey Jr. Unmasked His IronMan Suit in 'The Judge,' Set To Be Released on Oct. 10
Proving that he is more than a masked metal superhero, Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr. is set to conquer the big screen again in a courtroom drama movie. Beliefnet reported Downey's latest movie, "The Judge," is set to premiere this week, Oct. 10 to be exact.
The movie follows the life of a high-profile criminal lawyer, Hank Palmer, played by Downey. Palmer is set to return to his hometown, Indiana, after the death of his mother. His homecoming will force Palmer to face issues that he has already chosen and this includes his estranged dad.
"The Judge" is far from the movies done by Downey for the last couple of years, Todayszaman reported. In this movie, Downey has turned his superpowers off and has stopped saving the world, just for a while. "Other than the 2010 buddy comedy "Due Date," the legal family drama marks Downey's first movie in five years that doesn't star the 49-year-old actor as either Iron Man or Sherlock Holmes."
Downey, also "The Avengers" leading man, reportedly view courtrooms as a boring and uninteresting place but he and his wife Susan still ventured with the film. "I've done lawyers before and it's like, 'Dude, really? Courtrooms? So boring," the actor said in a latest interview.
"The Judge" is the inaugural movie of Downey's production company, "Team Downey." The actor's wife, Susan, has been a movie producer for a long time. In fact, Downey and Susan first met on the set of "Gothika" released in 2003.
The couple was both captivated by The Judge's storyline and they considered the movie a "family affair." "She works really closely with the director, as do I, obviously. She's really smart, pretty and calm -- for the most part. That's just a winning combination. I've seen this before with directors who have partners that produce," Downey said.
In terms of review, News1130 reviewed the film and it is not quite impress on how the movie was executed. "The Judge is certainly a cinematic misdemeanor, a movie that wants to wear the robes and bang the gavel, but barely earns the right to take the stand."
Despite the negative feedbacks, "The Judge," directed by comedy director David Dobkin, is set to premiere on Friday with the cast that include Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard, Vincent D'Onofrio, Leighton Meester, Ken Howard, Emma Tremblay, Balthazar Getty and David Krumholtz.
