Windows 10 Release Date, Latest News: Explained Why Windows 9 Skipped - Improved Features Hope To Save MIicrosoft After Windows 8 Failure
Pre-empting the rumors and news, Microsoft has already announced the release of its new operating system. Tech Radar recently reported that the launch of Microsoft Windows 10 on the middle or later part of 2015.
Terry Myerson, the company's executive vice president for Operating Systems Group, made the big announcement during the Microsoft Build Developer Conference. This is done amidst rumors that Windows 8 is not warmly received by the OS users.
Know Your Mobile reported that "It's not surprising the Microsoft has chosen this pre-emptive announcement, as multiple reports indicate Windows 8 is proving unpopular with users - some sources even indicate many are ditching the OS."
Myerson also explained why Microsoft tends to skipped from Windows 8 to Windows 10, excluding Windows 9. He said that Windows 9 will not be an appropriate name for the company's new OS, as it will be against their new One Microsoft internal strategy.
Forbes reported that this incident was considered a "mystery" that has been a topic of online discussions. Many believed that Microsoft skipped Windows 9 to put distance to its previous Windows 8 OS. "By skipping a number, Microsoft might be repeating a formula they used in their successful transition from panned Windows Vista to Windows 7 - create enough cognitive dissonance so that users will forget how bad the previous operating system was."
Despite the issues haunting the new OS, reviews for Windows 8 have noted the improvements that Microsoft has to offer. Though the system is still underway, new features like touch, "snap," enhanced security, and the return of the start button have been lauded by tech critics.
Windows 10 will feature Universal App and "Continuum." Universal App works with both touch screened and mouse-controlled gadgets. Continuum, on the other hand, allows connection of a gadget to another gadget. This is a feature that Windows have failed to include for quite some time now.
Price of the new Windows 10 has not been revealed yet. After Windows 8 appeared to be a failure, consumers can bet that Windows 10 will be released in an affordable price.
