How to Use iOS8 'Family Sharing': Synching Has Never Been Easier! [Tutorial]
Apple's newest operating system - the iOS 8 has made "Family Sharing" much easier, Mashable reports. Unlike in the previous OS, the device will no longer require the sharing of your Apple user ID and password.
This revised Family sharing plan, lets up to six people from their individual account share various information. The group can share with each other their calendars, locations, photos and even purchased contents.
To those who are unfamiliar with the Family sharing option in their iPhone, here are the few simple steps on how to activate and sync your Apple device, with the rest of the family.
If you don't have the iOS 8 yet, download it first before proceeding to the next steps. Each member must have the same current OS, in order for the syncing to work. If you wish to bring your iOS up to date, simply click Setting then General and then Software Update. Once there, follow the instructions on how to update it.
There must be one organizer who will be in charge of the Family sharing account. The organizer must click Settings, iCloud, Set up "Family Sharing," Get Started then Continue. You may be asked to type your Apple ID, say yes to the terms then finally click "Continue". You will then be asked series of questions, wherein, you have to type your choices.
If you want to download an item from a family member, enter your iTunes account name and password. If you do not want to share an item, you can hide it from others, as per Apple Insider. Other members of the group will not be able to download it.
According to GigaOM, Apple iOS has created a Photos app stream called "Family." This is the section where family members can share, with each other, their pictures and videos.
A Family member can also share his or her calendar and schedule of activities as well as location to others; however, there may be some contents that will not be appropriate to children. The Family sharing feature can allow the organizer to set up some parental controls. Generally, when a child tries to download or buy an item from iTunes, a notification will be sent to the parents.
