Short Film 'Frozen Fever' to Debut in 2015
Produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures, "Frozen" is a 2013 3D computer-animated musical fantasy-comedy film, which centers on the story of a valiant princess who embarks on an epic journey to look for her alienated sister, whose icy powers accidentally trapped their kingdom in eternal winter.
Frozen's voice cast include Kristen Bell as Anna, the 18-year old princess of Arendelle and Elsa's younger sister; Idina Menzel as Elsa, the 21-year old Snow Queen of Arendelle and Anna's elder sister; Jonathan Groff as Kristoff, an iceman accompanied by a reindeer named Sven; Josh Gad as Olaf, a comic-relief snowman who dreams of experiencing summer, Santino Fontana as Hans, a prince from the Southern Isles; Alan Tudyk as the Duke of Weselton; and Maurice LaMarche and Jennifer Lee as Anna and Elsa's father and mother.
The setting was primarily based on Norway while the cultural influences in the film come from the Scandinavian culture.
Since last November 2013, "Frozen" has made to be the highest-grossing animated film of all time, the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time, the highest-grossing film of 2013, and the third highest-grossing film in Japan.
"Frozen" won two Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (Let It Go). With approximately $1.2 billion worldwide box office revenue, the 2013 musical fantasy-comedy previously touched people with the concept of true love. Interestingly, according to reports, "Frozen 2" full-length sequel may not be taking place; however, a short film titled "Frozen Fever" is currently in progress.
The synopsis of the short sequel reads: "It's Anna's birthday and Elsa and Kristoff are determined to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa's icy powers may put more than just the party at risk."
In addition to the thrilling plot of the upcoming short film, fans have enjoyed listening to Frozen's original soundtrack. Frozen songs, including "Love Is An Open Door," "For the First Time In Forver," "Do You Wanna Build a Snowman" and "Let It Go," also popularized the movie.
Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, who contributed behind the massive hit "Let It Go," are also currently writing a new original song for the short sequel.
There is no official announcement yet regarding the release date of "Frozen Fever." Nonetheless, rumors say that it may come out before Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella remake in March 2015.
