BlackBerry Ltd's Passport: Going to be cheaper than iPhone 6 and Galaxy S5
BlackBerry is going to launch the new Passport smartphone soon. The flagship phone of the company is designed to bring Blackberry back into the smartphone game. Unlike its competitors, the company emphasizes more on business productivity oriented features with the Blackberry Passport. Even with its premium features, BlackBerry has kept the prize of the phone lower than the Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5.
Lowering down the prize than its rivals seems to be a pretty strategic move by the company. They hope to manage large amount of orders from the customers by offering this attractive price for the phone. Canadian price for the Passport smartphone has not been yet announced.
The BlackBerry Passport is a phone with squared-display, which has 4.5-inches of screen size. Like the previous versions, this smartphone also comes along with a square QWERTY keyboard for faster writing experience. The wider screen allows user to see 60 digits or characters on every line. So it will be more comfortable for reading books or writing on notes. The company is banking on these business-oriented features. It will provide fast writing speed along with improved visual display, which will make it so much easier to prepare documents on the phone.
After the new owner Chen took over BlackBerry, Passport will be the first smartphone released by the company. The features of the smartphone has been very slowly exposed throughout the year. The company has scheduled events in London, Toronto and Dubai today. So fans can expect to get latest updates from the company from the events. The phone is expected to have pretty powerful configuration. While the company has not provided official details yet, leaks on the smartphone claim that it will come along with 3GB RAM, up to 32 GB of expandable memory. It is expected to be powered with Quad core processor. BlackBerry has always provided great battery backup. The new phone is no exception.
It is expected that BlackBerry Passport can improve the position of the brand. The company is yet to announce when the Passport will hit the market.
