'Agent Carter' Plot, Premiere, Latest News and Cast Update: Shea Whigham Set to Star in 'Agent Carter' As SSR Chief Roger Dooley
Shea Whigham, a star from the popular series "Boardwalk Empire," was cast to play the role of SSR Chief Roger Dooley in an upcoming series "Agent Carter." Whigham is joined by Hayley Atwell who plays the role of Peggy Carter, Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark, Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa, Michael Murray as Agent Thompson. SSR Chief Roger Dooley is responsible for overseeing Agents Carter, Sousa and Thompson. His character is described as "tough but fair-minded."
Another character that's joining "Agent Carter Season 1" is James D'Arcy. He will play the role of Edwin Jarvis, Howard Stark's butler, who will eventually become Tony Stark's tutor. He will inspire Tony Stark's J.A.R.V.I.S. artificial intelligence.
Aside from starring in "Boardwalk Empire," Whigham also played recurring part in "True Detective." He also starred in "The Wolf of Wall Street," "American Hustle," "Fast and the Furious 6" and "Silver Linings Playbook."
According to ABC, the series is set in 1946 and Peggy Carter is working for the Strategic Scientific Reserve or SSR. She's in-charge in doing some administrative work while working with Howard Stark on secret missions.
"Agent Carter" will premiere on January 2015. "Agent Carter" is one of the most ambitious project, picking up "Captain America: First Avenger" to create a new series focusing on Peggy Carter.
"Agent Carter" is another "comic book" series to get its shot on television. Viewers are looking forward to "The Flash," "Arrow" and many others, but the creators' strategy for "Agent Carter," is the decision to cast established actors to play the characters in the series. Other show chooses to cast new actors to play lead part in the series but not with "Agent Carter."
Peggy Carter will first appear in "S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2. Is there a crossover between the two series, just like in The Flash and Arrow? We just have to wait for more update.
