'Resident Evil: Revelations 2': Coming Back to Horror Survival Roots

'Resident Evil: Revelations 2': Coming Back to Horror Survival Roots
"Resident Evil" has seen so much success as a game that it was made into not one but multiple movies. However, it was not able to escape a rapid deterioration in terms of popularity in the gaming world. This is largely because of a shift in the character of the game. While it started off as mostly like a horror film, later versions became more of an action-based game. This resulted to gaining some new fans, but at the same time losing a lot of old ones. This has been the scenario that in "Resident Evil 6," CapCom tried to satisfy both fans but ended up to be a flop as neither old fans nor new ones were happy with it. To address this, CapCom look to another game: "Resident Evil: Revelations."
The success of this game is very significant so that CapCom is releasing another game in that nature; "Resident Evil: Revelations 2." It should be noted that this new game is named such only because it features pretty much the same gameplay and nature as the previous one. But, the characters, enemies, and plot are totally different.
According to Michiteru Okabe, "Resident Evil: Revelations 2" producer; the numbered Resident Evil Games are aimed at a wider, larger mass audience. The Revelations on the other hand are dedicated to satisfying longtime fans of the Resident Evil. This is a very smart move for CapCom. This simply enables them to tap into the larger population of gamers who are looking into action genre, while they also have a game solely for long time fans who are more geared into horror survival type of game.
Claire Redfield returns to this game alongside series newbie Moira Burton, daughter of Barry, another Resident Evil veteran. Gameplay is pretty much the same with an over-the-shoulder camera. Ducking and swerving away from enemy attack is still available. In terms of weapon, a knife is also available for melee combat and, just like the way it used to be, you are armed with a pistol and a shotgun to start the game.
"Resident Evil: Revelations" is confirmed for a release in early 2015. It will be available in PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
