Final Fantasy 15 Release Date Hinted for 2015; could determine the fate of gaming consoles in Japan and worldwide
Final Fantasy 15 news: Square Enix has hinted that there might be a Final Fantasy 15 developed for PS4 and Xbox One.
According to Final Fantasy 15 co-director Hajime Tabata, the release of Final Fantasy 15 could make or break Japan's console gaming industry, as more and more gamers are shifting to handheld devises and mobile games. Sales of gaming consoles have been an a decline.
"It's pretty unique to Japan, where everyone is transporting - they have long train rides and bus rides to work, they have time to play handheld devices, or they're spending more time in their own rooms vs. spending more time in the living room," Tabata shared in an interview. "So in terms of whether console games will be received moving forward, it's not to say that I don't have any concerns at all, but I believe that it'll really depend on how Final Fantasy XV does. Because I really want more people to enjoy games in the living room, on a big screen. If Final Fantasy XV doesn't do well, perhaps there's not much of a future for console games. It kind of really depends on how that goes." To revive interest in gaming consoles, Square Enix plans to release Final Fantasy Type-0 HD for PS4 and
Xbox One, featuring enhanced graphics for a more exciting gaming experience.
