Maritza Ramos played by Diane Guerrero will no longer star in the drama series 'Orange is the New Black', this is a according to rumors which claim she will be leaving the cast in the next season. Her move from the series, Orange is the New Black may be prompted by her being a recurring character in the new CW TV series entitled "Jane the Virgin" which is set to debut on October 13th.
In the new series, "Jane the Virgin", Guerrero plays the role of lina, best friend of the protagonist. It is this new development that may find her in a sticky situation as it will be hard to juggle between the two TV series. In an Instagram post from Flaca actress, Jackie Cruz with the caption: "Miss my boo so much @dianeguerrero_@oitnb #Flaritza #moments #season3 #loveher #missher #cometome #michiquita #flaca #Maritza," is also an indication that Diane Guerrero may be leaving the cast.
This could also be the meaning behind actress Laverne Cox words when she said the third season of the TV hit series "Orange is the New Black" will be a mix of tragedy and comedy. "We started shooting season three the first week of June. We should be done around the end of this year. It's amazing. I think more of [what we saw in season two], but what our show does so well is has a balance between the very serious and the comedic," she said in an interview on MTV.
Season three of Orange is the new black will feature new characters who will be introduced to viewers but also old regulars such as Laura Prepon who plays as Alex Vause or Piper's lover will remain in the cast. Spoiler alert, there have been rumors claiming that Jason Biggs and Pablo Schrieber who play the roles of Larry and George "Pornstache" Mendez respectively will not be part of season three cast. And on the other hand, Mary Steenburgen, Blair Brown and Mike Birbiglia are expected to join the cast of season three.
With the first and second season available for streaming, Orange is the New Black season three will stream on Netflix in summer 2015 with the first episode expected to show in June.
