This is just to excite the fans and hint them on what to expect in the new season. Spoiler alert, the series might return to Mystic falls.
Season 2 starts off with a shift in power over the control of New Orleans as the werewolves take charge of the city and our favorite "heroes" are trying to adjust to the new status quo. Last season saw Klaus (Joseph Morgan) getting tricked by the werewolves which resulted in the killing of many vampires and saw him being weakened by the moon and the moon light rings as the werewolves now draw power from Klaus. With the change in power, the city has unknown threats lurking.
Klaus and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) had to give their newly born child, Hope to Rebecca, Klaus's sister. For now New Orleans in not a safe place for her. In this new season Hayley has to find a way to adjust to her new life being a mother away from her daughter the new Vampire-werewolf hybrid. Klaus will be busy finding a way to get back his strength that the werewolves draw from him.
Elijah (Daniel Gilles) on the other hand is determined to defeat Francesca Correa (Peta Sergeant) and her pack of werewolves who succeeded in taking over the French quarter in The Originals season one final episode which was entitled "The battle of New Orleans". In his pursuit for revenge Elijah will recruit Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) for help.
On a high note, both parents to Elijah and Klaus come back from the Dead but with different agendas in their minds. Davina (Danielle Campbell) controls Mikael (Sebastian Roche), but this does not change anything for he is determined to kill his son Klaus even if it means he will have to go through the teenage witch.
Esther (Alice Evans) who comes back possessing Cassie's (Natalie Dreyfuss) body on the other hand , according to the synopsis, she is consumes by the love for her children and will be working to reunite her family, the Mikaelson's, as a whole again.
The executive producer revealed that Klaus will be destroying his enemies to a "quite catastrophic effect" and "The original" could head back to Mystic Falls. "Remember this is where the Original family was- in ancient Mystic Falls," Narducci teased.
