The Simpsons Season 26 News and Spoilers: The Orginal Simpsons to haunt the new Simpsons
It's been reported earlier this year that Family Guy and Futurama will crossover to the town of Springfield to meet The Simpsons on their 26th season.
Entertainment Weekly reported that another crossover episode will hit the 26th season when Homer and his family will meet... The Simpsons?
The annual "Treehouse of Horror" Halloween episode that will air on October 19 will contain a segment wherein the show will parody 'The Others,' in which The Simpsons will be haunted by a family of ghosts living in their house. This family turns out however to be The Simpsons' former selves; their original incarnations from 1987's 'The Tracy Ullman Show.'
The Ullman Show-era Simpson have been hinted to have been murdered and buried beneath the Simpsons house in 2012's episode "Adventures in Baby-Getting" and also during their opening sequence for Treehouse of Horror XXIV last year that was created by Guillermo del Torro.
"We've implied that they were murdered and buried under the house, so this is expanding that thought," says executive producer Al Jean to Entertainment Weekly, adding: "If people want a real Halloween bloodbath, they get it."
The most remarkable thing about the Halloween special is the casts' ability to summon their original voices from the Ullman Show. Dan Castellaneta who voices Homer, Nancy Cartwright who voices Bart, Yeardly Smith who voices Lisa, and Julie Kavner who voices Marge have been voicing the characters since its original incarnation.
"People remember Dan's, but Nancy's is different too," Jean tells EW. "It was lower-register, and you can see in the difference in this segment. It was really funny to get the interplay [between the two versions of the Simpsons] and for the actors to see the voice evolution. The great thing is we didn't have to ask-we already had the cast hired for the Tracey Ullman Simpsons."
