Darlene Zschech Debuts Her First Song "My Highest Hope" After Her Bout with Cancer
Worship leader Darlene Zschech is back with her first released song since she was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year. Her new song "My Highest Hope," a self-penned worship ballad written while she was recovering from cancer, can be found on the upcoming (October 7th) Integrity Music "Before Amen: A Worship Collection."
The album is the musical companion to the book from New York Times bestselling author and pastor Max Lucado, Before Amen: The Power of a Simple Prayer (Thomas Nelson, October 2014). Written for everyone who wants to pray more, better and stronger, with more fire, faith and fervency, the album offers songs that that were chosen to complement the book, providing a musical backdrop for prayer and personal devotion.
The 13-track recording features inspirational, spoken word messages from Max Lucado and songs recorded by All Sons & Daughters, Michael W. Smith, Kari Jobe, John Mark McMillan, Brian Doerksen, Kathryn Scott and Soul Survivor, as well as brand new songs from worship leaders Paul and Rita Baloche, Planetshakers and Darlene Zschech.
Zschech's song for the project, "My Highest Hope," is a powerful declaration and reminder of the hope everyone has in Jesus. "Prayer is essential to every Christian's walk with God," says Zschech. "You simply cannot have a relationship without communication and, as Max explains in Before Amen, that's what prayer is... our simple, honest conversation with our Heavenly Father. I'm excited for the message behind the book Before Amen and honored to share a song for the Before Amen album."
Here are the lyrics of "My Highest Hope:"
Into Your courts I come
Your love has drawn me closer
Here with a grateful heart
For Your love delivered me
Lord I believe
You hear my desperate cry for help
I know You listen
So I pray to the Risen One
My highest Hope
I trust You with my life
Lord over every storm
Your love is holding me
And in this secret place
Where kings have prayed
And nations bow their knee
I come and surrender now
And pray Your will be done
Lord I believe
That You illuminate this darkness
I know You listen
Pray to the Risen One
My highest Hope
I trust You with my life
Lord over every fear
Your love is holding me
Your Kingdom come
Your will be done
