Mortdecai Movie Release Date, News, Reveals and Plot: Johnny Depp and Gwyneth Paltrow to Star in Upcoming Flick
Lionsgate have firmly established themselves in the movie game over the years with one of their smartest moves being taking on the saw franchise. Among the movie powerhouses projects slated to be released in early 2015 is the movie Mortdecai, which is set to come out on February 6th. Judging from the title you would think it was a Bible-story themed CGI-packed movie in the vein of Noah but far from it. David Koepp whom we know from Men in Black 3, War of the Worlds and The Taking of Pelham 123 shall be directing this action Comedy.
The movie is about a super smooth art dealer Charlie Mortdecai, who like all respectable art dealers has found himself dealing with angry Russians, the MI5,an international terrorist and a wife. Add to this the fact that Mortdecai is traversing the globe trying to recover a stolen painting that is rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi Gold. This Gold is no doubt the one thing that will solve all his troubles and get half of Europe off his back. The movie is based on a three novel anthology by Kyril Bonfiglioli which is apparently quite popular and the fans are waiting to see if the movie turns out anything like the book. Lionsgate and OddLot entered a multiyear multipicture co-financing and distribution deal. Mortdecai is the first baby born of this union. The movie started shooting in late 2013 in London with most of the filming being done on that side of the pond.
The best part about the movie is the cast Johnny Depp, yes he of the Pirates of the Caribbean fame. Johnny hasn't really been on our screens a lot of late but with this movie and Pirates of the Caribbean five coming out all that is about to change. Add to Mr. Depp the amazingly beautiful Gwyneth Paltrow, Mr. Ewan McGregor, Paul Bettany, Olivia Munn and Aubrey Plaza and we have a really good thing going. Christi Dembrowski, Andrew Lazar and Johnny Depp shall are sitting in the producers chairs and Eric Aronson is the man behind the typewriter.
