Penny Dreadful Season 2 Release Date, News and Updates: Patti Lupone to Guest Star Next Season

Patti Lupone is a legend on stage and has been making efforts to make the same name for herself on TV. She has now been confirmed to have signed a deal to guest star for Season 2 of Showtime's Penny Dreadful. Lupone's most recent guest starring role was in the third season of American Horror Story on FX. The character that she will be playing on Penny Dreadful has been described as mysterious and of great importance to Vanessa Ives' past. Patti Lupone must be interested in making a name for herself in the small screen, and we're sure fans will be supportive of her new endeavors as a TV star.

In other casting news, Simon Russel Beale and Helen McCrory has been bumped to series regulars the second season which will be comprised of 10 episodes. McCrory plays Madame Kali who appeared briefly in the first season, and now will be the main antagonist for season 2. Beale plays Ferdinand Lyle, an Egyptologist who interprets the ancient script that gave details on Miss Ives' powers and her possible role in the darker arcs to come.

Other cast members includes Tony Award winner Douglas Hodge also plays Scotland Yard investigator Bartholomew Rusk, who seems to be a pain to Josh Hartnett's Ethan Chandler. Sarah Greene as Evelyn Poole's daughter Hecate and Johnny Beauchamp plays a character only described as a young man with a singular past.

Season 2 of Penny Dreadful begins in a month in Dublin and is slated to return on Showtime sometime in 2015.
