Red Dead Redemption 2 Release Date and News: Rockstar Games Planning on Finally Making a Sequel?
It's been reported by Play-Mag that Rockstar Games in San Diego is currently hiring for 37 open positions. The San Diego based videogame studio is also responsible for Red Dead Redemption, and is most likely be the developers behind the sequel.
Rockstar Games is also responsible for videogame franchises such as Grand Theft Auto, Max Payne, L.A. Noire, and Manhunt.
Red Dead Redemption is an open-world western cowboy game that focuses on a former outlaw, John Marston, who is then recruited by the Bureau of Investigation to take down the remaining members of his former gang. In exchange, the Bureau will grant Marston amnesty.
Rockstars' latest release is Grand Theft Auto V for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and is confirmed to have ports for the next gen consoles. The game has been met with success, garnering praises from gamers and critics alike. With the game's weight off their shoulders, it would be a huge advantage to start working on a sequel to Red Dead Redemption. Red Dead Redemption won game of the year awards back in 2010 from numerous media outlets such as Machinima, GameSpy, and GameSpot. Developers of the game have expressed interest in the sequel before and this latest news about the 37 open positions in Rockstar Games does beg the question: What are they working on? It's been reported that the spy game Agent that was being developed by Rockstar has been put on hold for years now, and the release of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One might prompt them into making the game available for the new consoles; this might be another reason why they were hiring more people.
With that in mind, gamers remain hopeful that Red Dead Redemption 2 is not just wishful thinking, but a reality waiting to happen.
