It was earlier speculated that Google would launch the Nexus 8 during or in the immediate wake of Google I/O, but it did not happen. And right now, everybody is wondering when the release will actually happen. @upleaks posted on Twitter, "HTC T1 will be released before Oct 9." But according to one reply to the tweet, @upleaks had been wrong about the HTC T1 release date, which it had earlier suggested to be on August. This means that either Google delayed the release or @upleaks had the wrong information.

However, one thing we are sure of is that HTC will indeed be building the next Nexus tablet slate. We have concluded this from multiple sources, all reliable. As for the release date, it is expected to be around the Christmas holiday. Meanwhile, Android L is still in the works and many people are hoping that it will be released in time so as to be used in the upcoming Nexus tablet.

As for the design of the Nexus 8, it will use HIS technology. The HIS technology talked to CNET and said that Google is planning to release a larger tablet later in the year with a high performance screen. The tablet had been rumored to start production July this year, but made in much smaller volumes than the Nexus 7. It is also expected to cost more due to the higher specifications of the soon-to-come tablet.

There is a tablet known as the 'HTC Volantis' which the Android police speculate that it could be the Nexus 8. The specs of the device sound to be quite impressive. Some of the specs include an 8.9-inch screen display with a 2048*1440 resolution, NVIDIA Logan 64-bit Tegra K1 processor, 2GB RAM, 16/32 GB internal storage, an 8MP rear camera and a 3MP front facing camera. More specs include an Aluminum zero-gap construction, stereo front facing speakers and will weigh 418g.

Regarding the price, Rhoda Alexander from HIS Technology said that she would not be surprised if the price would be higher than $299.
