Google Nexus 8, release date, 2014: Google's latest tablet to be launched by November 2014, takes on Apple's iPad Mini 3
Google Nexus 8 news: the holiday season will see a battle of the tablets: Google Nexus 8 release date is set for November 2014, facing tough competition from Apple's iPad Mini 3.
Display wise, iPad Mini 3 will have a 7.9 inch, 2000 pixel Retina Display while Google Nexus 8 will top it with a screen size of 8.9 inches and a 2048 x 1440 pixel resolution.
When it comes to specs beneath the hood, iPad Mini 3 will be powered by an A8 processor. Google Nexus 8 specs leaked online revealed that it will either have a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon processor or an NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor.
iPad Mini 3 will have Apple's signature iOS 8, while the Google Nexus 8 will run on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS or Android 5.0 L OS.
Similar to their predecessors, iPad Mini 3 will come in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options while users can choose from Google Nexus 8's 16GB and 32GB models.
Both tablets will reportedly come with an 8MP rear camera.
Expect the iPad Mini 3 to be more expensive than Google Nexus 8, as Google is known for producing gadgets with excellent specs and features, all within reasonable price points.
So, what to bring home for Christmas? Note which specs meet your needs and make your move.
