Ex-Gay Musician Dennis Jernigan Tells His Story in the Movie Documentary "Sing Over Me"

Available on DVD on October 1, 2014 is the new documentary movie featuring worship leader and song writer Dennis Jernigan. Jernigan has written songs we have all sung in our churches, songs such as "You Are My All in All," "We Will Worship the Lamb of Glory", "Thank You", "Great is the Lord Almighty", "Who Can Satisfy My Soul (There is a Fountain), and many more. In this DVD Dennis Jernigan shares about his lifelong struggle with same-sex attraction and the redemption he's found in Christ.
In 1981, singer-songwriter Dennis Jernigan walked away from the homosexual lifestyle and decided to follow Jesus Christ. Raised in a Christian home, he identified himself as being gay at a young age and constantly feared the persecution of the Church. Years of depression and despair followed as he tried to lead a double life, while secretly battling his temptations. Even after fully embracing his desires, he experienced only more pain and loneliness.
Through it all music remained the one thing he could find peace in, and it was through music that God changed him forever. After re-dedicating his life to Christ in his mid-twenties, Jernigan was inspired to begin his ministry recording music, sharing his story, and leading others to freedom. Over the next few decades, he would write some of the most popular Christian songs of all time and God would graciously use the torment of his past to bring hope to others.

"By telling his story, Jernigan puts forth an example of what God can do in the lives of those who put their trust in Him. Nothing is impossible with God, and He wants to bring healing and freedom to all. Many people let their temptations define who they are, but true identity can only be found in the One who created us. God alone tells us who we are." -Documentary description on Indigogo website.
"Director/Producer Jacob Kindberg left no stone unturned and no measure of God's grace unexplored. He wove the events of Dennis' life into the concert footage and solo performances, providing a glimpse of the struggle and passion that built each song. Though there were many tears, the film captured Dennis's tender heart and his ability to feel deeply in a world where people tend to avoid emotion.Melinda Ledman - Christian Cinema
