Nexus 8 Release Date, Rumors, Specs, Features And Price: New Wi-Fi Certification Confirms That The Nexus 8 Will Run On The New Android L With A Possibility Of The Two Being Launched Together
We have the latest for you on the release date, rumors, specs, features and price of the Nexus 8. For some time now, we have known that HTC will be in charge of manufacturing the new Nexus 8 tablet. It has been long though as the so called Volantis seems to be at the verge of launching for several months. If there is further confirmation needed that the slate is real, then a new Wi-Fi certification for the new tablet should seal the deal.
After the certification, it is speculated that the new Nexus 8 will run the Android L operating system which sounds right as the Nexus 8 will be the latest tablet from Google and Volantis is just but a codename for the device. Earlier, it was hinted that the nexus 8 would be released during Google's I/O conference which took place two weeks ago but it was not released as expected. In a week's time, HTC will be at IFA, but it is thought that the company is detailing a smartwatch at the event and will not launch the Volantis. This is very possible since if the Volantis is the Nexus 8, then it is not really for HTC to launch it. It will be up to Google to launch the new slate but the big question is, when is the Nexus 8 to be released?
It has been confirmed by the Wi-Fi certification that the new Nexus 8 will have the Android L, the latest version of Google's mobile platform. The release of the software is scheduled to land during the fall and it is very possible that Google will launch it alongside the Nexus 8. The price is projected to be around $350 to $500. Although there is no confirmed date, maybe we should expect the HTC Nexus 8 tablet to be released alongside Motorola's Nexus 6 smartphone. The Nexus 8 tablet will be the highest end tablet so far. It is rumored that HTC will make the tablet from metal, similar to the company's HTC One smartphone while it is also expected that it will have very good features. The features and specs will include HTC's BoomSound front facing stereo speakers, a snapdragon 801 processor and will come with 3GB of RAM.
Unlike earlier Nexus tablets, the Nexus 8 is expected to be more premium and be able to compete in the tablets market alongside the likes of iPad Mini Retina and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S range. You can count on us to jeep you updated on more information on this.
