Mass Effect 4 Release Date,Gameplay, News, Rumors, and Updates: Release Delayed to 2015
The new installment to the Mass Effect franchise might possibly not grace gaming consoles this year, as BioWare, developers of the game, have put it aside in favor of Dragon Age Inquisition.
The internet blew up in anticipation as Amazon posted two ads for Mass Effect 4 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Game producer Mike Gamble however confessed that the game is in its early infancy and that the game might be years away from release. Dragon Age Inquisition, which will be released on November 18, also was delayed which was supposed to be released on October. This begs the question if it's still under development, shouldn't a 2016 release date be in the realm of possibilities? These past couple of months, it's been reported that the new game will no longer feature protagonist Shepard, and that a new character will be featured as the hero for the new game. BioWare is also developing a multiplayer RPG game entitled Shadow Realms, which is a mix of fantasy and contemporary video game elements.
Executive producer of the Mass Effect franchise, Casey Hudson, has also left the project for a much needed break, and also to explore more opportunities. This could have possibly affected Mass Effect 4's development, for he acted as the development team leader for the Mass Effect franchise, but game developers at BioWare remain mum on the matter. Casey Hudson started as a technical artist for Neverwinter Nights back in 2002 and MDK2.
The Mass Effect franchise started back in 2007 and has spawned multiple spin-offs, comics, and even novels. A film adaptation is already under development as well, and an anime adaptation, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, was released in March of 2012. Its current main trilogy stands with Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 (2010), and Mass Effect 3 (2012).
Regardless of the departure of Hudson, development of Mass Effect 4 is currently on-going and it seems like the possibility of its release in 2014 is no longer a possibility.
