Resident Evil 6 Movie Release Date, Reveals and Rumors: Filming for the Final Installment Delayed Due to Issues with the Script While, Jovovich Takes Maternity Leave

It became quite clear this summer that the sixth installment of resident evil would not be able to make the rumored September release date. The director of the film, Paul W.S. Anderson stated that he was still working on the second draft of the script from June. The other constraining element to things is that the main character, Milla Jovovich is pregnant which delays the filming quite a bit as well. Therefore, the closest estimation of the release date for Resident Evil 6: The final Chapter would have to be sometime in 2016. The working title of the film suggests just that. This is going to be the last installment of the series. Reports also say that the movie is going to be filmed entirely in 3D. This time Jovovich is going to reprise her role, obviously but the other addition to the cast is going to be Li Bingbing who will reprise her role as Ada Wong.

Jovovich also addressed the production team who according to reports had already flown to South Africa to prepare the set for the shoot. "I would like to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has been working so hard on the movie in South Africa already and we are so looking forward to working with you all next summer,"

It does make sense that Resident Evil 6: Final Chapter would be delayed because of everything that is going on, but it seems a bit last minute. According to Jovovich, she was just about to get on the plane to Cape Town in order to get started on the movie, when she discovered that she was in fact pregnant. From her post on social media it seems that she acknowledges the work of the production crew getting everybody ready for the set. However, it begs the question of how much money and time was put in to make the movie up this point and how much will be used when she gets back on her feet so that the actual filming can start.
