Chris August, Christian Singer, Posts Silly Summer Fun Video On YouTube
Christian musician, Chris August, posted an amusing video of him sliding across a colorful slip 'n slide into a little blow-up kiddie pool on June 4. He traversed the wild waters of the slip 'n slide with the assistance of two small blow-up rafts.
The Texas native climbed out of the pool at the end of the video saying, "Y'all make sure to have some fun this summer, I know I am," before giving the camera a grin and a thumbs up.
The video, in all of its randomness, is not a complete surprise, coming from August who is known for his light-hearted and fun approach to life, although his music tends to take a bit of a different direction. His songs tend to be a great deal more serious, reflecting on the awesomeness of God.
August's most recent album from August 2012, entitled 'The Upside Of Down,' deals with the beauty and constant presence of God's great and powerful love. The leading single on the album, 'Center Of It,' specifically focuses on God's presence in the center of our lives through all of our experiences.
'The Upside Of Down,' was released just four months after August had experienced a dangerous fall off of his skateboard that knocked him unconscious and landed him in the hospital with a bruised, bleeding and swelling brain injury.
The irony of the album title after the fall was not lost on the good-humored musician, however, August had actually penned the title track of the album, as well as its leading single, 'Center Of It,' well before his accident. Even so, these songs gained new meaning for him through this experience and the healing process that followed.
The new album was written with co-producer Ian Eskelin, who has worked with names such as Francesca Battistelli and Jason Castro, and emphasizes the idea that God is always present in both good times and bad. "It shows God's character and His grace that He has for us," August said, according to his website. "God loves us despite the mistakes we make. He's there with us no matter what."
August is a self-taught pianist and keyboardist, as well as a very talented vocalist. He really gained a name for himself in 2010 with his release of his debut album, 'No Far Away,' which landed him with titles such as 'New Artist of the Year,' 'Male Vocalist of the Year' and 'Pop Contemporary Album of the Year' at the 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards. 'Starry Night,' was the most successful single from this record, holding the No. 1 position on the Billboard Christian chart for six weeks straight and marking the first debut single to reach No.1 on that chart in over three years.
