HTC One Wear Release Date: Set for August or September, To Compete Directly With Moto 360
Like everyone else in the consumer electronics industry, Taiwan-based HTC won't allow itself to be left behind. With the trend of smartwatches continuing to grow, it's been leaked that HTC's One Wear might be released this August or September; directly clashing with the impending release of Motorola's Moto 360.
Various sources say that the recent huge rise of Android Wear has been marking huge numbers as of last year until the first quarter of this year. There has been 1.9 million smartwatches shipped worldwide the previous year and a 250 percent increase during the first quarter of 2014.
HTC One Wear will be powered by Android, just like all smartwatches do and will come in two versions in polycarbonate and metal version. Just some of its expected interface are file manager, visible music icons, remote camera and will also feature HTC's Sense UI.
But what does Android Wear really do, more than just an extension of your phone on your wrist? What added functionality does it offer a consumer?
According to some user reviews, you can use in the car while driving to start navigation, make calls, open applications and send messages without having to use your phone; and that makes you more focus on the road. It also offers quick responses to SMS and phone calls without speaking, specially when you're in a meeting. It also comes out as useful when you are at home. If you're the busy kind, you can always be connected even your phone is away from you while charging.
So do you think the HTC One Wear is something worth your attention and big bucks?
In the meantime, if you are curious to see it; go check out the teaser on HTC's YouTube page. Pricing is expected to range from $300-$400.
