Godzilla 2 Movie Release Date, Reports And Rumors: Godzilla 2 Confirmed With A Release Date Announced By Legendary And Warner Bros
There is good news for the fans of the Godzilla movie as we have the latest for you on the release date, reports and rumors of Godzilla 2. Legendary and Warner Bros have set a release date of the sequel to Godzilla. The movie is scheduled for a June 18th 2018 release. The director of Godzilla, Gareth Edward is returning to the franchise, who was recently named as the director of the upcoming Star Wars spin projects.
The producers arranged a $160 million budget for Godzilla and it is no wonder they are very excited about the sequel. The Legendary president and chief creative officer, Jon Jashni, talked to Variety.com and he said, "You can't ask for a better situation when you have a group of people, who were perhaps expecting to be let down were impressed, it all lines up when that eco-system aligns and starts feeding off itself. It's very validating."
The two companies recognized the potential of the new upcoming sequel despite the doubt that surrounded the latest remake of Godzilla following the critically slammed 1998 Sony version. After the previous flop, they have put the film's early box office success down to complete 'rebranding' and 're-establishing'. Jashni said, "Our initial goal was to re-brand and re-establish the property in a Tiffany way. Now we're trying to take in all the results of the weekend."
The movie directed by Gareth Edwards took in around 93 million Euros this weekend and a further 103 million Euros taken from box offices worldwide. One of the main challenges there is to having Star Wars coming soon, is that the director, Gareth will be tied to one of the installments, and he will just have to wrap up the project and go back direct to Godzilla 2. We are sure that the fans will not mind having Gareth as the director of the second installment of Godzilla. On the schedule of Legendary pictures, there is also 'Skull Island' which is a reboot of the King Kong franchise and the film is expected to be released on November 2016. Although the release date of the Godzilla 2 might seem quite far, we only have to wait and see how it goes. We shall keep you informed with any information concerning Godzilla 2.
