Dara Maclean, New Song 'Wanted' Released May 28
Dara Maclean, Christian artist, released a new single on May 28, entitled 'Wanted,' from her upcoming album.
On May 26, Maclean posted on Facebook saying, "The count down is on & I feel like a kid. My new single #Wanted will be live on @iTunesMusic this Monday night! Thank you doesn't suffice for all your love and support thus far friends. I cannot wait to share with you new music, what's been happening in the sweetest season of my life and how God in His grace, has been helping me grow... Thank you for helping me spread the love!"
The new single emphasizes the importance of living life in Christ because each and every one of us is 'wanted' by God. "Ministering to the broken, unloved and discouraged and ultimately showing people God's better way is what's in my heart. It's how I'm wired," Maclean was quoted saying on her website.
She has received some support for her new single within the Christian music industry. Sidewalk Prophets tweeted on May 28 saying, "Rumor has it our good friend @DaraMaclean has a new single releasing today!"
Maclean's music is an interesting combination of contemporary music and R&B. She derives musical inspiration from 70s Soul music, Motown and R&B because these genres "just spoke to people," according to her website. She has also been influenced by contemporaries such as Adele, Natasha Bedingfield, Ray LaMontagne, John Legend and Marc Broussard.
Maclean's main purpose in her music is to share the love of Christ with the world. "I love making music you can move and groove to, but at the same time, as Christian artists we have a responsibility to speak the truth of the finished work of Christ in love," she said, according to her Facebook page.
"I'm hearing from people that it's a brand new sound, that it's refreshing," Maclean has said, according to her website. "It makes me feel in my heart like I'm hitting the mark. I feel like we have the right people involved, like it's the right mix and that we're headed in the right direction."
On the day of the release, Maclean posted on Facebook saying, "I've been waiting for this day, the day I get to share 'Wanted' with my friends, the first single off my new record. Live on @itunesmusic now, find it here: http://smarturl.it/daramacleanwanted #youarewanted #RT."
Her upcoming album will be her first since the release of her 2011 album, 'You Got My Attention,' which featured one of her most well-known songs, entitled 'Free.' Maclean also went touring with popular Christian band, Casting Crowns, this past spring.
