Taylor Swift Visits The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' to Share About Her Upcoming Movie The Giver' Releasing August 2014 w/ Meryl Streep & Katie Holmes, Watch New Trailer Here (VIDEO)
Taylor Swift pays a visit to "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on (NBC at 11:35 Est) Wednesday night (Aug 13), with a musical performance from Ryan Adams. She posted a silly video previewing her upcoming appearance on her social media which you can watch above.
They will speak about her first movie role in the upcoming film, The Giver that releases this weekend (August 15th, 2014). Swift will play the role of Rosemary, the Giver's daughter, in Phillip Noyce's adaptation of the 1993 young adult novel.
The Giver Author Lois Lowry recently spoke with MTV News about Taylor's role in the movie. "The role in the movie is still a small role, but it's a crucial and very important one," Lois told "I have a copy of the movie in its final stages here on my computer, and I had my two grandsons here for the Fourth of July weekend - they're 13 and 15 ,and I showed it to them-probably against the rules-anyways, I asked them was there anything special that they liked best and one of them selected the scene with Taylor Swift."
She added, "I don't think because of Taylor Swift particularly, but because the elements of that particular scene he found very gripping. So her role in the movie is much the same in the book, except in the book she's only remembered... And in the movie you can see the memory of her. She appears in, I don't know the technical term would be, but you can see her. And it's very compelling."
The haunting story of The Giver centers on Jonas, who lives in a seemingly ideal, if colorless, world of conformity and contentment. Not until he is given his life assignment as the Receiver of Memory does he begin to understand the dark, complex secrets behind his fragile community.
In music news, the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards have announced that Taylor Swift has been added to the performers list for the show in Los Angeles. Swift, who is now amazingly a veteran at these type of award shows, is always a welcomed addition as she always goes big for these performances.
According to E! News, the 24-year-old country/pop singer is planning an "explosive" performance for the show. We know that it's 'not a collaboration with another singer' but the bigger question is, will she perform a new song or old hit? We would love to hear a new song!
Other performers already announced include Usher, Ariana Grande and 5 Seconds of Summer.
Swift owns several VMA awards including in 2009 for Best Female Video for "You Belong to Me" and 2013 for "I Knew You Were Trouble."
The 2014 MTV Video Music Awards will air live on MTV on Aug. 24 at 9 p.m. from The Forum in Inglewood, California.
