Chrissy Metz to Star in Upcoming Film "Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story"

Lifetime is set to premiere Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story on Saturday, July 19, 2025, a moving original film inspired by the incredible true events of the 2018 wildfire that devastated Paradise, California. At the heart of the story is Nichole Jolly, a nurse who became a real-life hero when she risked her life to help others escape the inferno. Emmy-nominated actress Chrissy Metz stars as Jolly in a role that draws on both emotional depth and physical courage, capturing a woman whose faith and selflessness turned tragedy into triumph.
Metz, best known for her breakout role as Kate Pearson on NBC's hit series This Is Us, brings her signature authenticity and strength to the screen. Born in Homestead, Florida, and raised in Gainesville, Metz was nominated for both Emmy and Golden Globe awards for her work on This Is Us, and she has since become a beloved figure in faith-driven storytelling, notably for her role in the 2019 film Breakthrough. In addition to acting, she is a published author, a singer with her band Chrissy and the Vapors, and a vocal advocate for body positivity and mental health.
Faith in the Flames dramatizes the harrowing hours when the Camp Fire, the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in California's history, bore down on the town of Paradise. As the flames rapidly engulfed neighborhoods and roads, Nichole Jolly-burned, disoriented, and cut off from help-relied on instinct, training, and prayer to survive and to guide others to safety. The film follows her gripping journey, weaving flashbacks, real-time tension, and emotional reckonings into a powerful portrait of one woman's will to live and serve. Metz delivers a performance full of grit and grace, portraying a nurse whose ordinary workday turned into a fight against overwhelming odds.
Produced as part of Lifetime's new Saturday-night slate of faith-based films, Faith in the Flames launches a summer of stories highlighting women who endure unthinkable hardship with hope and resilience. The film is directed with intensity and heart, showcasing both the terrifying speed of the fire and the quiet, transcendent moments that define Nichole's journey-from calling out to God in desperation to comforting others even as her own life was in peril.
Metz has said that portraying Nichole Jolly was both humbling and inspiring. "Nichole's bravery and devotion to others, even when everything around her was collapsing, is something we don't see enough of," she noted. "Her story reminds us that faith isn't abstract-it's what we cling to when we have nothing else."
Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story will air exclusively on Lifetime on July 19, 2025, and is expected to spark conversation and reflection among viewers looking for real stories of courage, community, and divine providence.
