Sherlock Season 4 Release Date, Spoilers and Review: Moriarty is back while Mary Morstan may be Pregnant
The long awaited masterpiece that left world longing for has been renewed for a fourth season that is as much anticipated by its fans as the previous seasons. Although the precise date has not been set, we will get a sneak peak as to what to expect in the 2014 Christmas Special. The story, as evident in the name, is based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes. It is set in Cardiff, Wales with writers Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, making the viewer believe that with great talent and imagination anything is possible. Don't even get me started on the remarkable casting of Benedict Cumberbatch who has become the very embodiment of the British detective. It is no wonder it is the most watched series since 2001.
A sneak peek of what fans ought to expect in season four will be in the 2015 Christmas special whose shooting and production has been set for January 2015. The series deviates from the traditional story with Sherlock Holmes using modern conveniences like social media. Holmes and Watson work together despite what seems to be a love-hate relationship with Sherlock's brother, Microft being ever so present in the background. The criminal mastermind Moriarty makes a powerful and intriguing appearance, besting Sherlock at every turn and nearly turning our young hero insane. Moriarty dies, but makes a mysterious re appearance in season three.
Fans will be expecting answers to questions in the next season. Chief among them why and how Moriarty is back. Rumours are rife of a third Holmes brother and Mary Morstan, Dr. Watson's girlfriend may be pregnant. Either way, BBC definitely has a winner in their stable that they can definitely get a few more runs out of. Considering the production and airing dates for the Christmas special we expect a fourth season sometime in 2016.
