Christian Community Responds to the Death of Three Members of the Nelons
One of America's most cherished Gospel music families, The Nelons, were involved in a tragic plane crash on Friday afternoon. The family was en route to join the Gaither Homecoming Cruise to Alaska when the accident occurred. The crash claimed the lives of Jason and Kelly Nelon Clark, their daughter Amber and son-in-law Nathan Kistler, their assistant Melodi Hodges, and the pilot Larry Haynie and his wife Melissa. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is currently investigating the accident.
Amy Grant:
On Friday night, Vince closed the live radio broadcast of the Grand Ole Opry with Go Rest High, saying "if anyone is struggling with loss tonight, I'm singing this song for you."
None of us knew yet, of the plane crash that took so much of the Nelon family along with their close friends. We're praying for their loved ones who remain, and those who are making short term and long-term decisions around this devastating loss.
Michael W. Smith:
My heart is so heavy to hear about the tragic loss of the Nelon family. Please join me in prayer for their family and friends affected. Thankful for this family's ministry.
Steve Easter:
Hope I can get the words out the way I feel about The Nelons!! I meet Kelly Nelon Clark 48 years ago this month, also her brother Todd Nelon and father Rex Nelon. I love them like family because that's what you are on the road!! My journey with Kelly started with The LeFevres we were all just kids back in 1976, I can tell you from knowing this family that long that they love to tell people about Jesus and His salvation they were not ashamed of the gospel!! I Love this family and I can tell you when that plane went down they didn't feel the sting of death. We will miss them all Jason, Kelly, Amber, Nathan. We will see y'all soon!! Please continue to pray for the families especially Autumn Nelon Streetman and Todd Nelon
Brian Free & Assurance:
We are heart broken and shocked over the news of this tragedy. Let's band together and pray for Autumn and the family members of our friends, The Nelons.
Patrick Mayberry:
Oh heavens! Praying for mega peace. Sooo painful.
Daywind Music Group's Ed Leonard:
The Daywind Music Group family is devastated by the news of the passing of several members of the Nelons in a plane crash on Friday. We pray that God's peace and love cover surviving member, Autumn Nelon Streetman, and her husband, Jamie, along with the Clark, Hodges, Kistler, and Haynie families, following the loss of Kelly Nelon Clark, Jason Clark, Amber Nelon Kistler, Nathan Kistler, and their close friends Melodi Hodges, Larry Haynie, and Melissa Haynie, who travelled with them on the flight. In this time of unimaginable grief for these families, we know that our beloved artist and their friends are in the arms of Jesus Christ whom the Nelons spent their entire careers singing about as they spread His Gospel around the world. We stand on His promises today as we grieve the loss our precious Daywind family members.
Dr. David Jeremiah:
Dr. Jeremiah sends his deepest condolences to the Nelon family and the families of all seven individuals who lost their lives in the tragic plane crash Friday.
The Nelons have long been a staple in the gospel music industry, and this loss will be felt by many. Their incredible talent was used to spread the gospel and share the love of our Lord.
We send our deepest sympathy to all those impacted by this great loss and our prayers are with the families during this difficult time. May the peace and comfort of Christ carry them through the days ahead.
Autumn Nelon Streetman:
