'When The Game Stands Tall' Movie Release Date 2014, Watch New Trailer Featurette Starring Jim Caviezel, Michael Chiklis & Alexander Ludwig (VIDEO)
The upcoming movie When the Game Stands Tall has released a new featurette that takes an in-depth look at the film's story, while interviewing cast and crew. You can check it out above as well as watch the official trailer for the movie.
When the Game Stands Tall is directed by Thomas Carter and written Scott Marshall Smith. The sports drama film stars Jim Caviezel as Coach Bob Ladouceur, Laura Dern as Bev Ladouceur, Michael Chiklis as assistant coach Terry Eidson and Alexander Ludwig as running back Chris Ryan, is about the record-setting 151-game 1992-2003 high school football winning streak by De La Salle High School of Concord, California.
The film is an adaptation of the 2003 book of the same name by Neil Hayes (published by North Atlantic Books) that tells the true story of the remarkable journey of legendary football coach Bob Ladouceur, who took the De La Salle High School Spartans from obscurity to a 151-game winning streak that shattered all records for any American sport.
Producer David Zelon shared that the intrigue of this film is that Ladouceur "placed little value on winning, instead focusing his players on giving a 'perfect effort' in life". SPWA president Steve Bersch noted that the themes in the film transcend sports and cinema: "At its core, this is a timeless and universal story about character, hard work and love".
De La Salle head coach Bob Ladouceur retired in January 2013 after winning his last Open Division state championship in December 2012. Filming took place from April until June 2014.
When the Game Stands Tall August 22, 2014 from TriStar Pictures.
