‘Jane Got A Gun’ Movie Spoilers, Release Dare, Teasers, Cast News [Original Director And Three Original Lead Stars Replaced], And More!
Previously planned for showing on August 29, 2014, the release to cinemas of the western action drama Jane Got A Gun has been moved back to February 20, 2015 because of casting and production problems. The original director, Lynne Ramsay, walked out on the first day of shooting. Then original lead actors Michael Fassbender, Jude Law and Bradley Cooper one by one followed suit. Fortunately, the film still has the lead star Natalie Portman who is also a co-producer in the project.
Natalie Portman plays the character Jane Hammond, the Jane in the title. The movie is now being directed by Gavin O'Connor based on a screenplay written by Brian Duffield and Anthony Tambakis. Aside from Portman, the new cast now includes Joel Edgerton, Ewan McGregor, and Rodrigo Santoro along with Noah Emmerich, Boy Holbrook, Alex Manette, James Burnett, and Sam Quinn.
Jane Got A Gun tells the story of a a good girl, Jane (Portman), who's married to Bill (Emmerich) the leader of a gang of outlaws. Bill turns against his own gang. The gang, now led by John Bishop (McGregor) attacks him. Barely alive, Bill got home with eight bullet wounds on his back. His former gang is still hot in pursuit, so Jane has to take matters into her own hands. However, she can't do it alone so has to ask her ex-lover Dan Frost (Edgerton), a gunslinger, for help.
Relativity Media and The Weinstein Company acquired Jane Got A Gun last year at Cannes and will handle theater distribution.
