Fifty Shades of Grey Movie Trailer: Finally, A Glimpse At How E. L. James’ Book Will Look On Screen

E.L. James' Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy has sold over 100 million copies worldwide and has been translated in 51 languages. No wonder that even the release of the first official trailer to the much anticipated film adaptation of the first installment in the erotica series gets top billing in most entertainment news. The movie itself is scheduled to hit the theater screens by February 13, 2015, in time for next year's Valentine's Day.
The much talked about trailer was featured in Thursday's episode of NBC's The Today Show. Running at two and a half minutes, it reveals in quick succession scenes beginning with the initial meeting between Anastacia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson) and Christian Grey (played by Jamie Dorian), to the development of their mutual attraction to each other (i.e., the helicopter ride, the elevator scenes), until finally to the entry to the secret chamber with the whips, blindfolds, handcuffs, and other SM-bondage fetish props. The trailer played out against a remix version of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love" soundtrack.
Johnson and Dorian were both present during the screening of the trailer at The Today Show. Asked about what it was like during the filming of the steamy scenes, Johnson said, "It's not a romantic situation. It's more technical and choreographed." And Dorian added, "That's a big part of it...having trust. Because, you know, we got ourselves into situations that don't feel that sort of natural, and they're not that easy and you need to have the trust there."
"Fifty Shades of Grey," the movie, wrapped up production early this year. It was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson based on a screenplay written by Kelly Marcel with Patrick Marber and Mark Bomback. There will be two versions of the movie - one, a "Rated-R," for the mainstream audience, and another, an "NC-17," for the die-hard fans of the explicit erotic novel.
