6 Things to Know About Tauren Wells' New Album "Joy in the Morning"
Ten-time GRAMMY nominee Tauren Wells will be releasing his brand new album Joy in the Morning. Here are 7 things to know about this new record.
1. The album will be released on June 10, however, you can pre-order the album now.
2. The album includes his recent single "Fake It" Feat. Aaron Cole, praised by E! News as an "upbeat, infectious track." Wells recently gave an exclusive live performance of "Fake It" from the Vevo Studios. Watch HERE.
3. Joy in the Morning, Wells' third album and first for Capitol Records/CCMG, follows 2021's Citizen of Heaven (Live), which received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album. He also received GRAMMY and NAACP Image Awards nominations for "Hold Us Together (Hope Mix)," his 2021 duet with H.E.R. On Joy in the Morning, Wells pushes the limits of what people might expect from him, combining sonically adventurous music with a deep, abiding message.
"I've come to view my music as an entrance not as an escape - it's where you get to step in and consider your life," explains Tauren Wells, who will be co-hosting the K-LOVE fan awards in Nashville in May. "You can consider the pain. Consider the disappointments. Consider the dreams. And now, all of a sudden, you have a soundtrack that helps sooth the wounds or awaken the dreamer. It's not about getting out of your life. It's about getting more out of your life."
4. The album's latest single is the soaring piano ballad "Empty." "You could have it all / You could have the whole world at your feet / But still feel empty," he sings, his voice reaching new crescendos. He wrote the track with Tedd T., who also produced, and Paul Duncan.
5. Here are the lyrics of "Empty:"
[Verse 1]
Have you ever noticed that gold
Sparkles in the light but it's cold in your hands?
Have you ever filled your cup
Thinking it would feel like enough
But it don't last?
[Pre-Chorus]
When you don't even know what you're reachin' for
It's the absence that tells you there's somethin' more
[Chorus]
You could have it all
You can have the whole world at your feet
Every little thing you think you need
And still feel empty
You could have it all
You could have the best this life can bring
Livin' everybody else's dream
And still feel еmpty
[Verse 2]
When everything you thought was a win
Is turnin' out to bе paper thin
It tears you apart, oh
A shadow that you thought was the light
Won't keep away the monsters at night
That haunt your heart, oh
[Pre-Chorus]
When you don't even know what you're hopin' for, oh
It's the missin' that tells you there's somethin' more
[Chorus]
Oh, you could have it all
You can have the whole world at your feet
Every little thing you think you need
And still feel empty
You can have it all
You can have the best this life can bring
Livin' everybody else's dream
And still feel empty
[Bridge]
Oh-oh-oh, oh
Empty
Oh-oh-oh, oh
Woah
[Pre-Chorus]
When you don't even know what you're livin' for
It's the questions that tell you there's somethin' more
Oh, yes there is
[Chorus]
You could have it all
You can have the whole world at your feet
Every little thing you think you need
And still feel empty
You can have it all
You can have the best this life can bring
Livin' everybody else's dream
And still feel empty
[Outro]
Could you feel it?
Empty
Empty
