Michael W. Smith Celebrates 20th Anniversary of "Worship" with New Live Recording

CCM veteran and worship leader Michael W. Smith is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his iconic album Worship this year. He will be re-recording and re-releasing the entire project live with special guests such as Amy Grant, Tauren Wells, Matt Redman, and more. The forthcoming project entitled Worship Forever will re-imagine the album from start to finish, this time, with a full symphony orchestra.
Worship Forever will be recorded in front of a live audience at Allen Arena on July 12, 2021 in Nashville, TN and released on September 10, 2021. Tickets for this memorable night go on sale today, Tuesday June 1, 2021, and are available at www.MichaelWSmith.com/worship.
The original Worship album was released on September 11, 2001. It was Smith's first forray into congregational worship and it featured popular worship tunes such as "The Heart of Worship," "Open the Eyes of My Heart," and Smith's own "Agnus Dei" and "Purified." The album was reissued as a DualDisc in 2005. Smith sang "Above All" at President George W. Bush's 2001 inaugural prayer service
The album was very well-received by the public and fans when it debut at #1 on Billboard's Christian Album chart and #20 on Billboard's Top 200. The album went on to sell over 2 million copies in the US alone.
Smith says, "The Worship record was a special one for me. From the recording live in Lakeland, Florida - to the release on 9/11- the day our nation was attacked. I've seen God use those songs and that music in ways I could have never dreamed. I'm so excited, now, to be reimagining this record - start to finish - with a full Symphony Orchestra. It's going to be a special recording and night."
