Batman Prequel 'Gotham' FOX Series Premieres 2014 Starring Ben Mackenzie Releases Second Trailer Including Future Joker, Watch Here (Video)
"Gotham", the new Batman prequel series has announced a premiere date from FOX. "Gotham" Season 1 will premiere on Monday night, September 22nd. They have also released their second official trailer teaser, which you can watch above. This trailer focuses more on the secondary characters, like who will potentially be the Joker, the Riddler and so on.
There is a rumor that the "Gotham" producers are going to keep fans guessing on who exactly the Joker is in the first season. It could make the show more interesting if done well. This report is from Bleeding Cool:
"Jon Beavers being cast as a stand up comedian in the pilot of Gotham. And the suggestion that he may be a future Joker. I now understand that this was very deliberate and that the producers are playing with us. Basically, every episode in the first season will introduce a character that might be a future Joker, each emphasizing aspects of the character's iconography, a card sharp, a flower seller, a clown, or just a guy with a very big grin. All relatively unknown actors. All potentially a Joker. But only one of them being the actual Clown Prince Of Crime. Get ready to be Joker-teased on a weekly basis...."
Ben McKenzie ("Southland," "O.C.") stars in "Gotham" as the commissioner-to-be James Gordon in the drama that includes many of the big Batman characters including a young Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Catwoman (Camren Bicondova) and more. Dona Logue co-stars as Detective Harvey Bullock and Jada Pinkett Smith plays villain Fish Mooney as the series looks to tell a story that has not been told yet.
Official synopsis: A new recruit in Captain Sarah Essen's Gotham City Police Department, Detective James Gordon is paired with Harvey Bullock to solve one of Gotham's most high-profile cases ever: the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. During his investigation, Gordon meets the Waynes' son, Bruce, now in the care of his butler Alfred, which further compels Gordon to catch the killer. Along the way, Gordon must confront gang boss Fish Mooney, as well as many of Gotham's future villains, such as Selina Kyle and Oswald Cobblepot. Eventually, Gordon is forced to form an unlikely friendship with Bruce, one that will help shape the boy's future in becoming the Dark Knight.
The pilot of "Gotham" was put out by Warner Bros. Television, with The Mentalist's Bruno Heller writing the pilot, and Emmy nominee Danny Cannon (CSI, Nikita) is director and executive produced. John Stephens will also serve as an exec producer on the series.
