Elias Dummer Releases New Single, "Echoing Holy," Friday May 8
Worship leader Elias Dummer's new single "Echoing Holy" is available May 8. This is Dummer's first release from an anticipated EP entitled "The Rest Vol. 1". The EP comes hot on the heels of his debut album "The Work Vol. 1." It featured the hit song "Enough", which became a mainstay on the charts and led to a combined 10 million streams in 2019 between his new music and former band, The City Harmonic.
On "Echoing Holy", Elias shares: "Worship isn't just something we do alone but with people around. We do it together. If the crises of 2020 have taught me anything, it's that doing this faith alone is just so hard. Other people help us see Jesus better.
The author C.S. Lewis was part of a tight-knight group of friends called The Inklings, including JRR Tolkien and a third friend, Charles. When Charles died, Lewis wrote about it powerfully:
"In each of my friends, there is something that only some other friend can fully bring out. By myself I am not large enough to call the whole man into activity; I want other lights than my own to show all his facets. Now that Charles is dead, I shall never again see Ronald's [Tolkien's] reaction to a specifically Charles joke. Far from having more of Ronald, having him "to myself" now that Charles is away, I have less of Ronald...
In this, Friendship exhibits a glorious "nearness by resemblance" to heaven itself where the very multitude of the blessed (which no man can number) increases the fruition which each of us has of God. For every soul, seeing Him in her own way, doubtless communicates that unique vision to all the rest. That, says an old author, is why the Seraphim in Isaiah's vision are crying "Holy, Holy, Holy" to one another (Isaiah 6:3). The more we thus share the Heavenly Bread between us, the more we shall have."
-C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves
"We're in a crisis of isolation. Inspired by Lewis' story, "Echoing Holy" calls us to see God better together as friends and reminds us of just how much being together shapes us as we echo the songs of heaven and remember the hope we have, and the hope we have to come. Echoing the angels to each other, we have a faint taste of heaven. My hope and prayer is that this song inspires that same spark of hope in you."
"Echoing Holy" is available everywhere, including: Apple Music, iTunes, Spotify, Pandora. For more information about Elias Dummer, including upcoming music releases, visit his website at www.eliasdummer.com.
