Angelina Jolie New Movie 'Unbroken' As Director, Check out New Trailer, Movie Opens Christmas Day 2014 (VIDEO)
Angelina Jolie's latest directorial project, the movie Unbroken, is set to release on Christmas Day 2014 and they have released their second trailer, which you can watch above.
Unbroken stars Jack O'Connell in the starring role of Louis Zamperini (Jack O'Connell), an Olympic runner who was taken prisoner by Japanese forces during World War II. The movie also stars Domhnall Gleeson, Finn Wittrock, Alex Russell, Carla Thexton, and Garrett Hedlund.
The screenplay for Unbroken was written by Ethan and Joel Coen. The real life Louis Zamperini, who is the subject of the new movie, passed away just a few weeks ago at age 97.
Universal Pictures purchased the rights to the book in January 2011, having already acquired the movie rights to Zamperini's life towards the end of the 1950s. Early drafts for the film were written by William Nicholson and Richard LaGravenese while Francis Lawrence was scheduled to direct. Joel and Ethan Coen were then tapped to rewrite the script after Jolie was named director.
On September 30, 2013, Angelina Jolie was confirmed to direct the film in Australia. Walden Media was originally set as Universal's co-financer, but withdrew from the project prior to filming and were subsequently replaced by Legendary Pictures. The shooting based in New South Wales and Queensland and also shot in Fox Studios Australia and Village Roadshow Studios.
The 39-year-old Jolie is coming off of her best on-screen performance as well. Angelina hit a new milestone with her new film Maleficent that co-stars Elle Fanning. It has become Angelina's highest grossing film, earning over $520 million worldwide to date. The movie has held strong in the box office and renewed Jolie as a star that can carry a movie. The Disney film topped all movies opening weekend and grossed over $70 million and hasn't stopped earning since.
Maleficent is a 'dark' fantasy film directed by Robert Stromberg. Angelina Jolie plays Maleficent and Elle Fanning as Aurora(Sleeping Beauty) in a new look on a Disney classic.
