Hillsong Worship's Brooke Ligertwood Speaks About the Heart Behind New Album "Awake:"
Grammy Award winning Hillsong Worship continues to spark worldwide revival with the release of "Awake." The new album builds on the group's 30 plus year history and legacy of serving the global Church and equipping believers everywhere with songs of Holy Spirit power that exalt and glorify the Name of Jesus.
Hillsong Worship member Brooke Ligertwood who co-penned the album's lead single "Kings of Kings" with her husband, Scott Ligertwood, and Jason Ingram wants listener to injest the new songs. "And on October 11 (whenever it becomes October 11 for you) there will be this one. Some will pass it by, listen glancingly and then move on. It's the nature of "consumption".
"But for others - for many, I believe - it will be "ingested" - and this will make all the difference. Because ingestion means assimilation. Fuel is absorbed and turns to energy. And as those with ears to hear ingest this - the Spirit of God will assimilate it into thoughts, conversations, choices and actions that fuel Gospel movement."
Ligertwood reveals that the team have venture tirelessly to advance the Gospel through these new songs. "At our first prayer meeting for this record, I shared with our team something I'd just heard Tim Keller say about prayer plunging our imagination into God "so that the things we think up are Gospel movement things". So we prayed that day and every day after - we plunged our imaginations into God, so that the things we thought up would not just be great ideas, but Gospel movement. And we worked very, very hard (harder than you'd believe and harder than is healthy)."
She hopes that these new songs will spark revival for the spirit of revival was what gave birth to this record: "At the start of this year at our Vision Sunday service our senior pastors @brianchouston @bobbiehouston declared "revival is in the air". I wept through that service as I realised how the songs that had been assembled already for this new album were all different chapters of this same revival story. And it wasn't one we were writing. It was one the Holy Spirit was authoring - bigger than all of us, more intricate than we could understand."
"Perfectly and prophetically, a few months later United released "People" and now we @hillsongworship are ready to bring you "Awake".
"This project will, we pray, be a strong Amen to the word proceeding from our church @hillsong to the Church today and a strong dose of smelling salts to those who are weary, drowsy or nauseated by the times. Because what is revival if it's not people AWAKE?"
"Awake" is the timely follow up to Worship's last two critically acclaimed albums, "Let There Be Light" and "There Is More," which have together accumulated 640 million plus global streams, three Dove Awards, two RIAA Gold singles, one RIAA Platinum single, two #1 Christian radio hits, and one Grammy Award. All garnered within the span of three years; the accolades reflect an unprecedented level of success for any worship artist in the Christian genre. Building on this momentum, "Awake" is set to further solidify Worship's reputation for delivering praise and worship anthems of the highest caliber to help resource and mobilize the church.
At the forefront touring with some of the biggest names in Christian Music, Hillsong Worship will join Casting Crowns and Elevation Worship for a special 2019 USA arena circuit this fall. Kicking off Nov. 1 in Memphis, Tenn., tickets for the tour are available for purchase at www.PremierProductions.com and https://hillsong.com/worship.
