Prestonwood Baptist Church Partners with Drew Brees to Host First Football ‘N’ America League

Prestonwood Baptist Church of Plano, Texas, a congregation of 45,000 members led by Pastor Jack Graham, will host the first and only Football 'N' America league in Texas this September.
Prestonwood Sports Organization, the church's sports outreach ministry, will partner with Football 'N' America, a co-ed, youth flag football league co-founded by New Orleans Saints quarterback and Super Bowl champion and MVP Drew Brees. The partnership was announced in an email distribution that included a promo video shot by Brees.
"[I'm] very excited to announce our partnership with Prestonwood Sports Organization and Football 'N' America to bring flag football to Prestonwood," Brees said.
Since its inception, PSO's mission has been to introduce people to the gospel of Jesus Christ through "the vehicle of sports and fitness."
"The Great Commission can begin with a simple invitation," Graham said. "Hey, want to come play football this fall?"
Prestonwood's sports ministry offers baseball, basketball, football and soccer leagues for children and volleyball, softball and basketball leagues for adults. PSO promotes competitive play in a positive environment and helps both youth and adults develop spiritually, emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially - values that align with Brees' organization, whose motto is "Friends, Family and Football."
Brees, the winner of the 2019 ESPY Award for Best Record-Breaking Performance and Super Bowl XLIV MVP, founded Football 'N' America in 2017 as a non-contact flag football league for students of all skill levels in kindergarten through 10th grade. The league promotes safety, sportsmanship and athletic development among youth. Currently, Football 'N' America has 20 leagues across Louisiana, Ohio, Illinois, California and Texas.
"[Flag football] is something I thoroughly enjoyed playing right up until my freshman year of high school," Brees says in a video on the organization's website.
"It was through flag football that I learned the fundamentals of the game and the skillset to play at the next level. I gained so much confidence and self-esteem while developing my passion and love for the game," Brees adds.
Prestonwood's Football 'N' America league is for youth in kindergarten through 4th grade and will begin Saturday, Sept. 14. Games will be held on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. and will be played at Prestonwood Christian Academy's Lions Stadium or on the PSO fields. Games will last approximately 90 minutes.
There is a 10-player maximum per team and students will play six-on-six. Parents and guardians may request specific teams or coaches when registering, but there are no guarantees as to placement. Each youth will receive a jersey, shorts and flag belt with their registration.
