Daft Punk Tour 2014 News and Updates
Daft Punk had reportedly set up their 2014 World Tour that would be a total of 26 dates across 19 countries, and kick off on July 19th in their hometown of Paris. The plan was to end up in NYC and play Madison Square Gardeon on November 21st.
With all of the fan attention that Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter were getting from their latest album Random Access Memories this was great news. The duo performed at the 56th Grammy Awards in January with Pharrell Williams, Nile Rodgers and the one and only Stevie Wonder to perform their hit song 'Get Lucky'. The performance as praised and they won Grammys for Best Dance/Electronica Album, Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical), Record of the Year and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their collaboration with Pharrell.
However, since the reports of the tour in the Spring they have have since some up as false rumors. No official tour dates from the have been announced. Giorgio Moroder, who worked with Daft Punk on their Random Access Memories shared some insight a few months back on the duo touring with Mixmag: "I'm afraid from what I read and hear that it's going to take them a long time before they go on tour."
When asked if he would join them on the road, he added, "It would be great because whatever they're going to do it will be sensational! From what I kind of sense they may go the big stages and do shows for 50 to 80,000. I would jump at the chance to do it."
There was a rumor that the duo requested to perform at Devils Tower National Monument rejected. "This being a night skies park and a natural park and a sacred site to 24 different tribes, that would be considered sacrilegious and gets into that 'inappropriate use'," Robinson said. "And that meant maybe we would have to close portions of the main trail to facilitate this kind of stuff." This has been denied by Daft Punk's camp that this request was ever submitted.
Will Daft Punk Tour again? We will have to just and see what happens.
